Teams Program |
What is the Teams Program? |
| In the spring/summer phase we add the Teams Program to our menu of programs. This is a developmental competitive phase. Because there are more opportunities to play outdoors in jamborees, exhibition games and tournaments we use games as a tool within the development process. |
Do players stay in their teams only? |
| Unlike most clubs that define teams and then assign coaches who coach their own thing, EPIC has always believed that it is consistency that helps players and coaches grow and share experiences. Timberwolves FC follows this path and creates teams with the coaches instructing around consistent methodology. Why is this important? Players are able to train and play between 'teams' because of this consistency. We wish to avoid the situation where teams operate as individual groups and silo'd, with the only connection being that they train and play in the same kit. EPIC's success has always been in the the fluid movement and flexibility because of the consistent curriculum that is thread throughout the Timberwolves FC programs. |

Schedule |
Does Timberwolves FC play games or attend tournaments? |
| Absolutely !! We all, regardless of age, play soccer for the games. Games bring joy. AND they are the exam that tests what we have learned. From our perspective it is important for players to play games and we will do our best to provide these opportunities. This has been a part of our EPIC Soccer programs for many years.
(1) Exciting travel and cultural opportunities, (2) Players on their developmental path do not get the quality game play in the north compared to other areas of British Columbia and tournaments and exhibition travel allows the various age groups an opportunity to challenge their learning, (3) Establish consistency in these opportunities for players to experience travel and games. These are the experiences that we remember years down the road when we think about your soccer experiences,
(4) Games and tournaments are the highlights of club soccer,
(5) For our older age groups, these tournaments are part of the preparation for university play and a competition that college coaches can look at when resumes are presented,
(6) Creates a sense of unity with players within the Club as the train and travel together. |
Which tournament will the TFC attend in May? |
| We have typically attended the Slurpee Cup in Kamloops on Victoria Day weekend, however in contacting a number of hotels we found that accommodations would not be available for all of the teams. Consequently, we have found a tournament in Kelowna called the Surf Copa Tournament. It is a first year tournament however we have had confirmation from several other clubs that they will also be attending. We will send more details as they come together. |
When do the different programs begin and end for Timberwolves FC? |
| Starting in September, following Labour Day, Timberwolves FC moves into a Fall Academy structure with the coaching done primarily by the Technical Team. The Fall program runs until the middle of December. The Winter Academy structure begins in January and ends with the SX Cup in early April. There are festivals / jamborees for the Academy through the fall and winter. After the SX Cup in April, the Teams Program begins and runs until Labour Day weekend. This is more of a developmental games based program. Our experienced Community Coaches play a major role at this time of the year. |

Uniforms / Kit |
Do Timberwolves FC players need to buy training kit/uniform? |
| Players are provided with a training shirt as part of their registration if they do not have shirts from previous programs. The program has had green, grey and yellow training shirts in the past. We will attempt to keep these colours for training as we continue to grow the program.
Typically the players designate a specific training day to be a specific colour (i.e. Monday = Grey & Thursday = Yellow). This allows all players to be in the same training colour and that colour can be used as one of the colours of teams in training instead of using pinnies. |
Do we purchase uniforms for games? |
| Often we simply use our training shirts for games; however, when we play in tournaments and we are required to have numbers on shirts then the Timberwolves FC will issue each team a set of uniforms. These uniforms will be used for the tournament and then collected at the end of the event. There may be times that we have used our numbered training shirts or numbered EPIC training shirts for tournaments. We will be working to get a unique look for our tournament kit. |
